Dimed is one of the leading pharmaceutical distributors in the country, operating in the three southern states of Brazil. It is a part of Grupo Dimed, alongside Panvel pharmacies and Lifar, a pharmaceutical industry.
Dimed's operational excellence is based on its solid infrastructure. With continuous investments, Dimed ensures availability, frequency, and accuracy in serving its clients. The company has two Productive Distribution Centers in Rio Grande do Sul, over 800 employees, and serves more than 7,000 clients in the Southern Region.
In 2012, RED Design and Information Architecture consulting agency where I worked at the time was hired to design the new version of E-Dimed, the system through which retailers and pharmacists place orders for medicines and products. The previously offline system would migrate to an online environment, expanding its reach and making the online ordering process easier.
For this project, the Information Architecture team conducted an ethnographic study with eight users responsible for placing orders through the system, which generated a series of important insights for the new interface design process.
