OvinoPro is an advanced sheep herd management system designed to empower producers in monitoring the health and progress of their animals, controlling reproduction stages, managing feeding, diagnosing health issues, and other crucial aspects of sheep farming. The startup achieved significant milestones by winning the "Startup Garagem" hackathon, securing incubation, and receiving acceleration from Tecnopuc in an agribusiness incentive initiative.
In 2019, I was honored to be invited by the CEO to join as a co-founder and lead the product design, alongside another developer. This invaluable experience allowed us to showcase our solution at major fairs in partnership with Banrisul (bank of State) and SENAR (National Rural Learning Service), winning innovation awards and gaining the attention of prominent producers and producer associations. Our mobile solution, developed from scratch, is powered by Flutter and is available for both Android and iOS from the first version, featuring an offline data storage and synchronization system.
Furthermore, we received mentorship from a renowned national sheep producer, enabling us to gain insights into the industry's challenges and opportunities for improvement. Through field visits, we closely followed all stages of sheep farming, from birth to health management, to better understand the daily hurdles faced by producers. Our solution addresses these challenges, including low technological knowledge among farm workers and working in remote areas with no internet signal.
The main challenge was to develop a solution as easy to use as a paper notebook, which producers were already accustomed to, and whose insights would lead them to adopt the product.
